Vancouver's Stanley Park to Become Jurassic Park
Tourists visiting Stanley Park are against any ideas to change the natural beauty of the park by installing man-made dinosaur effigies. Many visitors feel that this would detract from the serene tranquility of the park and turn the park into an amusement attraction. Visitors are currently attracted to the park for its natural beauty. Stanley Park stands as an oasis amid towers of steel and concrete. Parks board vice-chairwoman Korina Houghton said "we don"t want some tacky amusement-park ride. But one of our goals is to engage families and children. I would want to see if there is an educational component."The Parks Board is considering ways in which to boost tourist revenues to the park. It is believed that by constructing such an attraction Stanley Park could draw up to 400,000 more paying visitors. They has always been known for its natural beauty - looming mountains, clean air and pacific beaches. The introduction of a Jurrasic Park style theme-park may lead to the city"s transformation into eventually becoming a commercial tourist attraction such as Orlando or Anaheim.
