Tourist Attractions in Nimes
Tourist Attractions:Roman Amphitheater:
This amphitheater was built during the Roman era and was used mainly to carry out public activities. Construction of this building took place around 1st or 2nd century AD. Today, this amphitheater is used for bull fighting events and for concerts.
Maison CarrÓ©e:
It is a small Roman Square that was a place of worship in ancient times. This is one of the best Roman temples preserved so far. Visitors can see a short movie here that tells about the history of Nimes.
Jardins de la Fontaine:
It is a park that has a number of fountains and it is located around the ancient Roman remains of the thermae.
Pont du Gard:
It is a small water supply channel which is used for irrigation and watering of plants.
Mont Cavalier:
It is a nearby Roman tower which was an important Roman building in ancient times.
Nimea Cathedral:
It is the Roman Catholic Cathedral which is dedicated to Virgin Mary. This cathedral was believed to be the seat of the Bishop.
MusÓ©e des Beaux-Arts de Nimes:
It is the museum which is famous for its fine arts. This was built in 1821 and was originally located in Maison CarrÓ©e and then shifted to Square de la Mandragore on rue de la CitÓ© Foulc in 1907. This museum mainly houses the Roman artifacts and antiques.
