Orlando Weather - When to Go and When to Stay Away
Summer is one of the favorite times to visit Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. But it also is the worst time of year to visit because of weather. This major tourist destination has monthly high temperatures that average nearly 83 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year, according to the World Weather Organization. But those temperatures exceed 90 degrees in June through August and fall just short of 90 in September. The average monthly highs reach the mid-80s in April, May and October, and in the 70s from November through February.
Average monthly low temperatures are in the 70s from June through September. They drop to the 60s in May and October and into the 50s in March, April, November and December. January and February have average monthly lows in the 40s.
On average, more than seven inches of rain falls on Orlando in June and July and another 6 inches in August and September. Rain days, which is the number of days each month that it rains, is more than 10 in June through September. The worst month is July with an average of 14 rain days.
The drop off of rainfall from October through May is dramatic -- the average is about about two to three inches per month. Likewise, rain days are cut in half compared to the summer.
The high temperatures and average rain for June through September makes those months the worst times to visit based on weather, although school schedules lead most families with young children to go there during the summer. Anyone with more flexibility will find friendlier weather in mid-spring and mid-fall.
