Masai Mara
The annual migration of the wildebeest, Thomson"s gazelle and zebra from July to October has now been declared as the 7th world wonder. It attracts a lot of tourists. Other animals found in the reserve are the big five, Hippopotamuses, black rhinoceros, cheetah, antelopes, Grant"s gazelles, impalas, topes and the fox. These are just a few of the wide variety of game found in the place. Over 450 bird species have also been recorded in this region. These include the vultures, marabou storks, and secretary birds, hornbills, crowned cranes, ostriches, long-crested Eagles, and African pygmy-falcons.The most dominant animal in the Mara is the wildebeest and it is estimated to be in the millions. The Masai Mara is a major source of revenue in Kenya. It employs thousands of people in and around the camp sites located in the area. Most of the lodges and camp sites are up to international standard and a visit to Kenya is not complete without spending a few nights in the Mara.
